Meaninglessness of Modern Life in Oil Paintings // by Peter Ravn

4

Peter Ravn is a Danish painter. He holds a degree in architecture and design from the Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. Before his debut as an artist, he was a central figure in the Danish field of design and music with his work on design and visual identity, as record cover and poster designer and as a director of music videos.

Peter Ravn explains: “My work is about the basic existential conditions of relations, interactions and the relationship between the individual and authorities and the norms of society. About the conversation a person has with him or herself throughout life. Nobody hears this silent conversation because it takes place within us. To get closer to this, I eliminate the exterior just as ‎I try to avoid contemporary identity markers in my figures.”
