21

İstanbul based young designer Serdar Bozok graduated from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Fashion and Textile design as top of his department and honor student. He won the first prize in IDMIB’s first competition in Turkey for shoe design. Working with well-known designers and brands like Ümit Ünal and Hakaan, he also got the chance to display his own work in various exhibitions and fashion fairs. Finally with ‘Power Pylon’ 2013 Spring/Summer collection, he offers us a taste of his works.

‘Power Pylon’ is a creation from Serdar’s childhood imagination when he was thinking power pylons as silhouettes of women. The whole collection is his way of combining these mechanic forms with human body. His design ground being based on creating minimal and feminine looks, he manages to bring together the geometrical and sharp forms of power pylons with the organic and fragile nature of female anatomy.

The overall dominance of blackness is one of Serdar’s design tricks. He succeeds to create a visual variety by carefully placing shades of copper and electric wire details into the color black. Another element that completes the whole collection is his hand-made accessories. From the heels of the shoes he designed to mirror earrings and sunglasses this collection reflects the unity of the two irrelevant forms Serdar’s childhood mind created.
