Hanging Forest Lighting Installation // Gilbert Moity


French lighting designer Gilbert Moity has created a site-specific lighting installation for chocolatier Patrick Roger in Brussels.

Spanning 7m long and weighing a whopping 450kg, the light is made of 90 tubes which highlight glistening bonbons below. Special LED bulbs, a cooling system and backlights were used so as to not melt the edible treats.

The shop is located in Brussels’ Palace du Grand Sablon, a historic location where renters aren’t allowed to tamper with their retail spacesin order to preserve historic aspects. Working with the abundant ceiling height, Moity created the light so visitors can circle around a central point: the light with a large bronze sculptural table below.
