Object 12-1 is an end-product of university experiment in the multiplication of material which Matija Čop performed as a student of fashion design with the help of mentor Jasminka Končić. In the production of this piece of clothing, a contemporary material is used whose original qualities were preserved to the same degree to which the qualities of the stone used for the construction of the cathedral were preserved. The material feels like EVA or rock when you touch it, but its original look is completely changed. |

The inspiration for this collection ‘Plastic Zeitgiest to Asian dhoti’ originated from the construction of a traditional garment worn in the villages of Pakistan called the dhoti. It is a rectangular piece of unstitched cloth, usually around 4.5 metres long, wrapped around the waist and the legs and knotted at the waist, resembling a long skirt. Further research in to this garment led Hira to experiment with different materials. While experimenting with many different materials Plastic seemed to have added a modern twist to the traditional draping and knotting technique. |

Bearded faces, the father in a classic suit and the religious man in a ceremonial dress. Both of them haunted Xenia Laffely along this collection’s process. She borrowed some attributes from each one to build a third figure on their ashes; her own icon, the unworthy son, rebellious, flamboyant. She designed him a new skin. Beards have become prints, interspersed with embroidery of orthodox cassocks and woolen men suits. Then, they have been cut out as classical suits lines. She colored the scarves, leggings and jackets with stabilo, to bring him to life. A graphic and sentimental character, wacky and unpredictable appeared. |

The melody of Leo Delibes’ Lakme opera acts as a background to the eternal seduction game in the movie “The Hunger”, where sensuality properly merges with dark atmospheres. The new collection by Sylvio Giardina draws its inspiration from the density of this emotional and narrative context and from the proportions unique to the style codes of the 40’s and 50’s fashion. |
